Artisan Series Program #3 Apollo for Destroy All Guitars. Completed 3/3/09. Flamed Claro walnut top on Spanish Cedar back; Madagascar rosewood neck; African Blackwood fingerboard, headplates, tuner buttons, bindings, pickup rings, pickguard, switch tip and washer, control knobs and all cover plates. The rear headplate extends as a skunk stripe down the neck and ends in the heelplate. I've never seen this done before, so I said "Why not?" Natural lacquer on headplates, heelplate and top. "Tawny Port" color on back. Tom Short "Tombuckers" Nickel hardware.

And the nut is Mother of Pearl:

Excuse me........I'm tired. Crying or Very sad

Cheers,

Clearly a "labor of love" -- that is stunning ! I'm curious too as to how it sounds -- not familar with these tonewoods at all.... Oh, and when you get around to it Jack, i'm sure we'd all love to see the full length shots !!

Thanks, guys!

The guitar has a tuning fork-like resonance acoustically that inspires playing and plugged in, a nice clarity thanks to the Tim Short "Tombuckers". For those not familiar with Tom he has a well known artist client in Marc Ford (Black Crowes). Although these are not the Marc Ford winds they are very nice.

The Full Boat hard-vee neck carve is very comfortable for a rather thick profile, because of the low shouldered vee carve. I can play it for hours and I have small hands.

I had never seen anyone run a skunk stripe down the neck incorporating the headplate and heelplate in a continuous piece, and said "why not?" So, there we are!

Cheers,
